The Anteater Arcade Game

With game mechanics combining elements of Donkey Kong and Pac-Man, this niche arcade game never got the acclaim it deserved. Created in 1982, Anteater is a maze game that requires improvisation, foresight, and a bit of luck at times. The premise is simple: you control an anteater that extends its tongue into the labyrinth of the anthill below, eating ants and larvae with the tip of the tongue. There’s a catch, though. Ants can’t come in contact with any other part of the tongue; you lose a life if they do. Other twists are incorporated in the game as you go along, and your skills need to become more refined as you progress, too!

A relatively simple game, this is a classic that is easy to get lost in, much like Galaga, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and other timeless classics.
